The teaching staff of the Department of Food Biotechnology, for the academic year 2024-2025, published a total of 118 scientific publications, of which: 3 monographs, 4 textbooks; 26 documents on intellectual property objects (of which 12 certificates of entering information into the State Register of Rights to copyrighted objects; received 3 patents for the invention, 9 patents for the utility model; 2 patent applications filed); 50 articles, of which 14 articles were published in publications included in the Scopus database, 8 articles were published in publications included in the Scopus/Clarivate Analytics database, in journals recommended by the Science and Higher Education Quality Assurance Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan are published 21 articles.

For example, in the reporting year, when performing research, students, undergraduates and doctoral students published a total of 60 works (including intellectual property objects), of which 23 theses in conference collections; 21 articles (of which 8 articles were published in publications recommended by the SaHEQACMSaHE of the RK; 2 papers published in scientometric database Scopus).
As a result of the inventive activities of the teaching staff with students, undergraduates, doctoral students of the department, 16 protective documents were received for the academic year 2024-2025, of which 8 certificates of entering information into the State Register of Rights to Copyrighted Objects; 2 patents for the invention, 5 patents for the utility model; 1 patent application has been filed.

In accordance with the Recommendation on the organisation and conduct of the annual competition of research works by students in higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the competition) in the 2024-2025 academic year, the first stage (intra-university) of the competition was held at the university from 17 February to 10 March 2025. Competition commissions were organised to conduct the first stage of the competition. Students from the department participated in the competition in the field of ‘Technology and Engineering of Food and Processing Industries’.
From 24 February to 10 March 2025, there was a public review of student research papers (student presentations, discussions and evaluations). Based on the results of the public review of student research papers (Stage I of the competition), in March 2025, the papers of students recommended for participation in Stage II of the competition were submitted to the Science Department.
The ATU held a start-up project competition, ‘START-UP-ATU-2025,’ in which students from the department participated. Student Serikbolkazy D. gave a presentation and received a certificate worth 250,000 tenge from NovatorFarm LLC. Scientific supervisor: Zheldybaeva A.A.
First-year student Rakysh Altynai participated in a national academic competition and also received a medal and certificate for her talent and leadership qualities. Academic supervisor: Associate Professor Zheldybaeva A.A.
As part of the project ‘Vocational training for economic growth sectors in Central Asia’, doctoral student A.B. Beisembaeva completed a research internship in Kaunas (Lithuanian University of Health Sciences). A certificate is available.
In December 2024, Astana hosted an international competition among scientific and educational institutions, ‘Best Student of the Year 2024,’ organised by the National Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (NAcSIR). The aim of the competition was to evaluate the professional achievements and contributions of young scientists to the development of science and education. Organiser: National Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (NAcSIR). Second-year student Tursynbay Aidana Azamatkyzy was awarded a second-degree diploma, a medal and a statuette for ‘Best Student of the Year’.
In April 2025, as a result of the XVII Republican Subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the educational programme ‘Biotechnology’, which took place at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty), a team of students from Almaty Technological University JSC, Faculty of Food Technology, Department of Food Biotechnology, Group BT 21-21, consisting of Askarkyzy Aknur, Baimoldaeva Amina, and second-year student Kadirbek Guldan, received certificates of participation in the Olympiad.
Following the results of the annual Republican scientific and practical conference of young scientists ‘Science. Education. Youth’, which was held at JSC ‘ATU’ on 10 April 2025, second-year student Kadirbek G. received a diploma for first place.
