For the 2022-2023 academic year, the teaching staff of the Department of Food Biotechnology published a total of 107 scientific publications, including: 2 monographs, 2 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a utility model, 31 articles, of which 12 in foreign publications (of which 1 in the publication included in the Scopus database, 7 in publications included in the Scopus database/Clarivate Analytics), 19 - 71 reports (abstracts) in journals recommended by the National Research Institute of the Republic of Kazakhstan, of which 18 are foreign, 49 are international, and 4 are republican. In total, there are 12 publications included in the RSCI database, including 1 article, 11 conference abstracts.
Teaching staff of the department are actively engaged in research activities. Mamataeva A.T. received a certificate of awarding the title of "Best Teacher" in the field of higher and postgraduate education for her significant contribution to the development of the country's higher education system and great work in training highly qualified specialists.
In May 2023, Bozhbanov A. J. received a diploma "for Outstanding Contribution to the development of the education and science system of Kazakhstan and for outstanding work in training highly qualified specialists", awarding the order of the Ministry of education and science. A. Baitursynova.

The department is working on the implementation of initiative research work on the topic: "Obtaining biologically safe and full-fledged herodietic livestock products with the use of protein feed additives" for 2023-2025.
Research work of students
On April 14, 2023, as a result of summing up the results of the startup projects competition at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, at the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare within the framework of the III International Conference of Students and Young Scientists "From Experience to project", "Medical students Startup Exhibition"-2023, under the leadership of Mamatayeva A.T. 4th year student Galbiat Lin, 3rd year student Adai Amir and 2nd year student Madi Sayazhan took the second place and were awarded diplomas.
On April 19, 2023, 3rd year students Dyusegulova A., Toylybai B. and Adai A., under the guidance of Mamataeva A.T., participated in the Republican Student Olympiad in the specialty "Biotechnology" at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. As a result of the competition, students received certificates for active participation. For the preparation of the student team of "ATU Kuramasy" to participate in the Republican Student Olympiad, A.T. Mamatayeva was awarded a letter of thanks to Al-Farabi KazNU.
On April 12, 2023, a startup project competition was held among ATU students. According to the results of the competition, the student project "Immunostimulating bioproducts" won funding for a total amount of 575,000 tenge. The project team is represented by the following students: Malaev Timur, Zhakhanova Ainur – developers of pastille technology (BT-19-11), as well as Makhsotova Lyazzat — developer of soft cheese technology, marketer and Turaly Shugyla — developer of pastille technology (BT-20-12).
